He broke out at the absolute best time for his career and unless Calgary blows the doors off this summer I feel he'll likely head into his final year and bet on himself for a huge UFA contract.

Actually, when was the last time you saw a star player or even a really good one test free agency? It rarely happens, almost never happens with star players in the modern day NHL. Not that Sharangovich is a star player but even the teams most impactful players rarely make it to free agency at his age. If you go by history odds are he will sign an extension instead of testing the market.
