Reports were that Jersey made an offer for Markstrom with retention, which was turned down because the offer was not good enough for the amount of money retained.
Then Jersey made another offer without retention, which was turned down because it wasn't good enough for the player.
According to the same reports, both offers included Holtz, a guy the Devils have publicly trashed and seem eager to get rid of, who happens to play at the one position where the Flames don't need any help. Conroy already has middle-six wingers out the wazoo.
I'm not at all surprised that no deal was made, and I don't blame the Flames' side for it.
