I don't see how the NHL can penalize teams retroactively with a cap recapture penalty as it went against the spirit of the salary cap, yet this seemingly obvious attempt to circumvent the salary cap for the playoffs is okay. I am not saying that Mark Stone isn't injured but the fortuitous nature of the consistent injuries allowing him to be back for the playoffs makes it seem suspicious.
And if it is heroic or not is beside the point. If they were cap compliant in the playoffs I would agree... but this just reeks when it happens every year. Find an NHL veteran who doesn't have chronic health problems that could put them on to LTIR.
