Ultimately he has been one of the fastest rising prospects this year. Start of the season he was seen as a 2nd round pick and has put himself in the top 10 now based on a phenomenal season.
I would rather have the Flames pick Iggy and he bust opposed to them passing on him for someone else and watch him become far better than the prospect we draft. No guarantee either happens but adding an Iginla to this team is second only to winning the lottery and getting Celebrini or the consensus number 2 Russian player.
It does feel like for every flame fan that wants iggy for being an iggy there is one who doesn’t want him for the same reason

I want the organization to choose the player they think is best, absent the name on the back of the jersey.
If they think that's Tij - great.
I also think though this draft is a unique opportunity, in the range they will pick in, to get either a centre or D. That's not drafting for positional need, it's just recognizing the higher values of those premium positoins that are also scarcer.
