I don't know if it would be a rebuild.
Removing a 1 WAR first baseman and a 3-5 WAR shortstop from the line up won't sewer the team that much if they still have a strong pitching staff to build around.
It's a hard thing to wrap your head around, because we all expected these two to be superstars, they aren't.
If the pitching falls apart that's a different story.
