I remember sitting there watching the first period of Game 7 against Tampa Bay and realizing that if the Flames won the Stanley Cup, it would be nice, but it wouldn't bring me as much joy as when they beat Vancouver in the first round.
That was pure glee, perfect payback for 1994. 7th game, overtime, in their building as the underdog. All they were talking about on the radio in Vancouver is who they wanted to play in the second round, as though beating Calgary was a formality. I got kicked off a Vancouver city bus after Game 4 for wearing my Flames jersey, making eye contact with the driver, and grinning ear to ear. And I didn't even care.
