I can understand the reasoning behind not extending a 29 year old Kuzmenko for 7-8 years, but for 3-4? Really don't see an issue with that. The argument is that many other teams could use a pure goal scorer in their lineup, but for whatever reason, they don't admit the Flames could too!

If the market is only giving you a 2nd, then I think it's worth the Flames considering extending him for 3-4 years if Kuzmenko is willing to sign. Having a dynamic scorer is something that would benefit the kids on the team. He isn't great defensively but not every player is, and coaches need to understand and accept that and not try to make every player a solid defensive forward.
