If they had kept their goalie in both times, the most likely outcome is that they would still have won once and lost once – and they would have had 3 points. Even if they had lost both games, they would still have the 2 points.

As a betting proposition, it's not worth pulling your goalie in OT unless it gives you a 75% chance of winning that game. Usually when a team has the odds that strongly in its favour, the game never makes it to overtime in the first place.

Never saw either game, but did they pull their goalie in regulation of the tie game in either one? To me that makes more sense since your risk is getting nothing, but your reward is gaining 2 points instead of 1. So unless you have a PP I don't think it makes any sense unless you predicated it with using the extra attacker in regulation.
