Too much silence because the league is so strict when it comes to criticizing their own. One of the worst things about the NHL is the inconsistency and down right incompetence of the officials. Coaches have to shy away from being vocal or get hit with a big fine.
I could live with the league not wanting to publicly out officials and admit in the media that there are issues, however, even behind closed doors there seems to be zero accountability. The reason for that is because the same problems exist every year and it seems to be getting worse than better. Is it too hard to ask for consistency? When players and coaches say they don’t understand some of the decisions being made on the ice, then perhaps, just maybe, you have a problem.
