Yeah it's an organizational decision and not something the coach decides on his own. I get that they are trying not to fester a culture losing but the reality is that the veteran players on this roster aren't good enough to get this team in the playoffs. That's the reality. End of story. They can go out and sign the Debrusk's and Duclair's of free agency but a year from today they will likely be in the same situation of looking at the playoffs from the outside. If I'm running the team I'm looking at other ways to improve the team which starts with playing the younger prospects to help bring them to speed in meaningless games so they can have a baseline for what they need to work on in the offseason. If the vets don't like it I would remind them that it was their play over the majority of the season that got the team to where it is today and if they don't like it then come to camp next season with a chip on their shoulder. Never given, always earned factors into the beginning of the season when every team is starting clean slate but riding out the weeks to golf season is the perfect time to take a look at some prospects that the team feels are close, providing a measuring stick of where they are at and maybe a healthy dose of confidence that if they make a mistake that they aren't going to be benched or sat.
