Edit: to be fair to you, recency bias probably makes it seem more significant than previous threats. But we, as a people, are also far more educated than previous generations, which I would hope leads to stronger resistance.

It’s nothing about living in fear or pretending this hasn’t happened before. Mentioning that it has happened before, is making my point for me. “Freedom isn’t free”. It is going to take the entirety of human existence to fight and hold onto the freedoms we have right now. That’s never going away. Power thirsty rulers will always exist as people. One day everything we know will no doubt change. Maybe not in our lifetime, but it’s not a guarantee.
Complacency isn’t something to brag about here, and saying that everyone else is just afraid just makes you look like your heads in the sand.
