I've said it before: This team has two players who belong on the first unit of an NHL power play.

They're still professional hockey players, presumably they can think and pass quickly with the added advantage of space and time.
The only one who appears to be any good at that is Huberdeau.

Keep it simple, but its gotta be fast. Make the defenders move.
Fast isn't simple. Defenders expect to move and are carefully drilled in systems designed to minimize the probability of an open shooting lane.

When you have two offensive players who belong on PP1, and they're up against four defensive players who are all good enough for PK1, you're going to get bad results.

If there isn't enough talent then dumb it down. Someone in front and then move the puck around the perimeter.
You can do that all day without ever getting a decent scoring chance. In fact, the history of CP is full of posters complaining about the Flames' PP doing just that.

If you dumb down your power play, you make it easy for the penalty killers to read and react. That's the opposite of being deceptive.

You can do something more than firing it at shinpads or the goalie's chest.
Not from the perimeter, you can't.

Players don't hit the goalie's chest because they were dumb enough to aim at the goalie. They hit the goalie's chest because he saw the shot coming and had time to get in the way.
