ISIS is such a wildcard. They are even fighting against the Taliban, like who do you even root for in that situation?
I could see this getting a lot bigger in Russia. The ISIS-K faction wants to build a Caliphate that currently includes territories within the the Russian Federation and areas of the former USSR where ethnic Russians live. The names of the captured terrorists seem consistent with naming conventions of Russian Muslim ethnic minorities, which suggests there could be a homegrown ISIS situation there.
