Keep in mind the cubic footage. For example, water will run off the roof of your house. If your house has a 1000 square foot roof, that would translate into over 7,000 litres of water that came off your roof.
Add in driveways, sidewalks, and roads (ie any place that water will not just soak into the ground) and you get an idea of what kind of volume of water we are talking about.
