In all seriousness, though, I think the attitudes of those two Germans are far from the norm. Germany has shown an incredible amount of contrition over the atrocities committed by the Nazis. Three years ago, when I was traveling throughout Normandy during the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings, I visited a Canadian war cemetery where about 2000 of our soldiers who died during the liberation of Caen and the Normandy break-out were buried. There were several wreaths laid on the monument at the center, but the largest was from the German government.
