I remember having a similiar argument with some friends about lindholm. They were adamant we HAD to sign him last off season. I was of the opinion you trade him and their argument was who is going to play center for the Flames?
My simple response is 31 other teams don't have Elias Lindholm and they are doing just fine at center. Overpaying old players rarely ever works unless they're a freak like Pavelski.
Hanifin isn't old but the Flames will be just fine without him. 31 teams don't have Hanifin and last I checked 16 of them are going to make the playoffs. Something he has rarely done in his career.
He played 12 playoff games in 2022 with the Flames and finished a - player in 10 of those games. Being a + player one game.
