So I know the general consensus from Fan960 guys and others is that you need to keep guys like Coleman around for the re-tool because he's a winner, good vet, etc. But after he puts up 30 goals this season and we likely trade away Markstrom, do we think he could be open to a trade? I believe he's got 3 more years at $4.9M after this season.
Mangiapane and Kuzmenko could also be moved this summer, though I believe we'll get maximum value for Kuzmenko at next year's deadline after he gets a full season of top-6 minutes with the Flames. Mangiapane I would like to move this summer if possible to open a roster spot and give us some options for Free Agency and/or Coronato, Pelletier, etc. taking their full time spot.
I'm a big fan of Coleman but he's playing his best hockey right now and IMO his value will likely never be higher. It's a pretty large salary to add to any teams payroll but with the cap going up I'm sure there would be interested teams, no? Other than the return we would be hoping to get, it also opens another spot for a winger in the top-9 and we're overflowing with wingers at the moment, and we'll have Honzek on the AHL roster next season also.
Mangiapane has an 8-team no trade list ($5.8M for 1 season, then UFA)
Coleman has a 10-team no trade list ($4.9M for 3 seasons, then UFA)
Kuzmenko has a 12-team no trade list ($5.5M for 1 season, then UFA)
Hoping at least one of these guys is moved in the summer to keep the re-tool rolling. Mangiapane is the 5th highest paid player on the team right now behind only Huberdeau, Kadri, Weegar, and Markstrom, so he's kind of the logical choice IMO to give us some more cap flexibility.
