It's not JUST Markstrom they'd be getting. They'd also be getting the additional cap flexibility from whatever Calgary agrees to retain over two seasons. We paid a 1st to drop $6.375MM for one year. So if that's the benchmark, the value of $3MM for two years should be comparable, shouldn't it?
If we get JUST the Devils' 1st in the trade after full retention, we've pretty much given away our starter for peanuts.
