It's the Hamonic trade you don't want to repeat while you're still mid-development of your next core.
Hamilton was young and good, and they asset managed him outstandingly. I'd be down for an other Hamilton addition in year 2-3.

You are making the mistake of evaluating the result of the trade as opposed to the behavior of the organization. Trade results can have variability that really can not always be predicted. Sometimes the result is good, sometimes it's poor. But the behavior to make both trades was identical and that was the flaw.
Go back and check on how Colorado and Tampa eventually got to where they're at. Both teams did mostly build and trade veterans for younger players trying to establish themselves before moving multiple picks for immediate help.
I'm criticizing the behaviors of the organization. That same behavior is why the team never is good for more than a one year stretch before falling apart.
