It usually takes a few attempts as well.
Colorado got Mackinnon but had to bottom out again before getting really good. Chicago went into a rebuild, and blew it up again and are rebuilding again.
Tampa had to bottom out a few times.
3 years is aggressive, and who knows what happens. Could be a Dallas style rebuild with young stars surrounding overpaid vets. They also got really lucky and have not made much noise in the playoffs.
Once names start getting attached to those picks we will have a better idea. I know they want a good team to open up the new arena, but 3 years is very very aggressive.
