There is no rush to get to Wolf to the Flames this season - There hasn't been all year. If Flames fall out of the hunt they have the space to easily bring him in near the end of the season and at that point running 3 goalies wont matter.
This is something that gets addressed in the summer.
16 Teams make the dance some will think if they just had better goaltending they could of made a run of it.
