If Conroy could’ve obtained a young centre from the UFAs, maybe he accepts a deal without Mercer.

Markstrom is the only asset that can get a young pro centre now. Conroy should hold out for Mercer.

If Marky is only worth a 1st round pick in the Summer, that’s fine. You rewarded a team that worked hard a chance to make the playoffs (they won’t); that has some value too in building the culture of your team, these things DO matter.

Flames have already done a good job of acquiring draft capital, losing out on one more is not going to kill the franchise. Holtz obviously isn’t that great a prospect as 3 teams don’t want him.
