One thing to note - the Bucks are playing the gatekeeper roles, particularly for the tag team division. I'm pretty sure they're aware of this and aren't getting in the way of putting other teams over.

Yeah, this is sort of why I don't get the "smug jerks" comment. Even going back to their NJPW days, the Bucks have always had zero issues putting people over. I remember there being a lot of concern about them having control the book and pushing themselves in AEW, and then they went out on the very first episode of Dynamite and put Private Party. Pretty sure.
I understand they're not for everyone, but they definitely have a good understanding of what their role should be in the company.
