If you think logically, or simply look at how historically goaltenders are valued in trades. Then look at how productive young ELCs are valued (or even unproductive ones).
Kirby Dach with a career high of 9 goals got 13th overall+a 3rd.
Cory Schneider is the peak of goaltender values in the last decade. He was 26 years old, and over the 3 years before the trade, here were his ranks. He got 9th overall
GAA: 1st
SV% 1st
GSAx/60: 2nd (Large gap between him and 3rd)
Total GSAx: 4th
And we can look at historical trends in goalies. NHL GMs show how they value Goalies in 3 ways. Trades, Draft picks, and salary.
They are getting less and less money (See: Helle, Sorokin deals)
Going later and later in drafts
and getting smaller and smaller trade returns.
