I too agree that conroy did a good job and deserves credit
I simply don’t agree that Hanifin or his group “handcuffed” anything. In fact, I think this might be the most straightforward/honest hockey transaction in a long time.
As a buyer (any team interested in Hanifin), it’s only prudent to ask the vendor (us) about the likelihood of the product (Hanifin) re-signing.
It’s up to us to grant permission. (If we grant it once or twice, we are foolish to think that the answer won’t be known league wide rather quickly, for various reasons).
In this case, obviously hanifins team let interested parties know the likelihood of them retaining him
AND
WISELY
It appears they are extending the contract after the transaction is done to ensure the new team is as strong as possible
