Again, these are reasons why they might be worse, not reasons why they couldn’t be better. They might come true, or:
- Teams will have more cap space and time to make moves to fit the contract in
- Teams that want one of the available goaltenders will miss out, or see Markstrom as a better/cheaper option for the cap space
- Teams will value having a top goaltender for an entire season
- With a playoff run over, teams that were just outside or an early exit may feel the need to improve the position
