The Flames need some good players if they want to sell tickets, jerseys, hope, ect. This isn't the Southern US where you can just be terrible for years with 4000 fans and not have any issues.

Is it less likely? The Flames drafted the last two star players that played for this team.
If another team is giving up a youngish player with the potential to have an impact today and in the future, they must not think that highly of him.
The only consistent way to acquire elite talent, especially for Canadian hockey teams, is through the draft. That is unquestionable at this point. Maybe it's only a 5-10% chance that a late 1st round pick turns into a star, but that's exactly why the Flames need to make more draft picks and higher draft picks.
This team needs to draft more than any other team over the next three years. They need to lean into it.
