Idk why people are clowning on Conroy for conditions on the first rounder. The 25 and 26 drafts are better and deeper than 24, those picks are more valuable. You also don’t want to have too many first round picks in the same year, there is more of a chance all the guys the scouts liked are gone by the third Flames first round pick and you are picking a guy you could have had in the second round.
Additionally, the conditions are very favourable to the Flames, if Vegas trades 25 pick then we get an UNPROTECTED 26 pick. With Vegas being one of the older teams in the league, with injury history, with no prospects and no picks, there is a good chance they are outside of playoffs in 2026.
