I don't think its unreasonable to think this return seems a little light, given Hanafin was touted all year as a top end D men just hitting his stride (having a career year). Yes, a pending UFA, but a very good player.
However, I'm still on board with what Conroy is doing overall, and I like the overall body of work in terms of asset management.
The risk for the Flames is, yes they've got all these additional assets and picks now, but some of those have to yield players as good or better than the ones that have left the franchise. You don't really want to be constantly trading the best pieces of the deal and not having the returns flourish to the same level. Time will tell.
I do think the Flames are in for a few pretty bad years, so they should get some higher draft picks along the way as well. Feels like the rebuild has officially arrived.
