It would be like McDavid's agent openly talking to the Leafs telling them he is only going to sign with them when his current contract expires. if the Oilers try to trade him nobody is offering fair value because his agent has already committed to the Leafs.

As was mentioned before though, a team is interested in a trade for Hanifin, asks Conroy permission to inquire about a contract, Conroy has 2 options:
1. Say no and most likely it ends there.
2. Say yes then when the agent is asked the agent says it isnt likely.
