Conroy would have been in constant contact with Tampa Bay, Boston, and likely Florida all week and all day today.
Those teams would have had all the time to beat this deal or make a deal that was better.
Florida hasn't even mentioned a GM. Tampa Bay im still not sure how they would have fit an extended Hanifin in unless Stamkos was walking.
If a 1st, Howard and other piece was on the table I'm sure that trade would have been accepted.
But I have a feeling that Vegas might have been the only team to even offer a 1st (which seems crazy) but based on how Conroy emphasized how important the 1st was in making the deal I think that may be true.
Now if somehow Lindholm gets flipped to Boston for a better return than the Flames got then I think we can be concerned. But at this point it feels like the market is soft, in Hanifin's case his agent really did something to soften that market even further, and Conroy is getting the best returns available to him.
And no stuff like Johansen + 1st is not a better return than 2nd + Grushnikov
