Yes, Conroy's hands were tied. You can blame Tre for giving Hanifin a NMC, blame Brisson for tampering, or whatever. But at the end of the day, an experienced agent and other GMs took advantage of a rookie GM. An experienced GM would never allow an agent to meddle like this, have all sorts of info leaked about where Hanifin wants to go, etc. I can't see any other GM allowing the kind of noise around this team as we've seen recently. We've been praising Conroy for holding steady, but honestly, a bunch of experienced hockey people just outwaited him and exerted outside pressure until all Conroy could do was accept the best pile of crap from the crap basket.
That said, I'm glad we got at least something for Noah. I maintain the opinion that the best way to build a sustainable winner is through the draft, and the best way to get high draft picks is by being an awful team. Hoping for Vegas to tank in 2026 is a pipe dream. Having a compete #### team ourselves is the best route to go, and we are well on our way. Team Tank is finally going to win here.
I really like Conroy as a human being and also as a GM. He's the kind of persuasive personality that's finally convinced ownership to rebuild. I'm thrilled about that. And if finally, this allows us to bottom out and draft a few top-3 players, I consider that a win.
But there's very little to praise Conroy about this specific trade. We got what we got and I'll take it, but it's not good. I strongly disagree with anyone trying to spin this trade as a win for us.

Disagree. Agents aren’t puppets and will do whatever it takes to ensure their clients needs are met. Having an established GM does nothing to prevent this type of thing from happening. This is a league issue that needs to be addressed and could happen to anyone.
