I wonder if Hanifin's agent sucked in the Flames to Vegas saying he'd sign there, and then they got so far along with the transaction, but couldn't come to a long term signing agreement, and took some peices out.
I know the hours are getting thin, but you think there would be more than a few teams willing to give you a 1st, a B prospect and a conditional pick in the next few days for a #2 defenseman, retained, of Hanifin's quality.
And I still think Tanev would get more, even from Dallas, if they waited and took offers this week as opposed to last week. Dallas won 7-6 vs SJ with Tanev in the lineup (and he was a plus).
