My idea is unrealistic but how can you accomplish a more fair playing field between markets? Both the NHLPA or the owners will object to many effective changes that the League can make. And you can't change weather, and other factors that come with location.
Your idea is as radical as mine. I say split the HRR by country. All the money made by Canadian teams stays in Canada and boosts the salary cap up here and the money made by American teams can stay down there and reduce their salary cap accordingly. I’m sick and tired of players sh@tying on our country but have no problem sticking their hand out and taking out money. And I’m not necessarily begrudging an American player for wanting to go “home” but all the other nationalities and Canadian players too thumb their nose up at us.
Either that or they need to regionally adjust the salary cap state/province by province to equal out the tax differentials.
