Dune Part Two is probably the most well-executed blockbuster in the last few years, including over its predecessor.
Not a book reader coming in so that probably changes my perspective. Looking at it more from a film/filmmaking perspective, it did so many things exceedingly well. Movies like these are the kind that create fandom in casual viewers.
A lot of 10/10 performances to boot. Having well-cast roles can elevate a film and I love the actors for each of these roles.
The elvis actor was amazing. Vill did a great job building him up to when he finally elects to be champion and has his moment. Outstanding tension building in that scene. I was on the edge of my seat.
It wasn't perfection, but about as close as movies of this scale get. The highs here bring similar magic to the likes of the battle of Pelennor fields in ROTK, although it's possible nothing will ever unseat the climactic Rohan charge.
