Saw Dune 2 in Imax at Chinook on Tuesday. Looked to be about 80-85% full.
As a big fan of the book, I was really hopeful that DV would crush it...
In the end, I thought it was pretty great - not sure if i would label it a masterpiece though? Going to have to stew on it a bit further.
In some ways, the first movie was more coherent and elegant (though I can see why some people found it boring too).
Going to see it again with some other friends next week, so I'll have to see what I think about it after that viewing...
Strangely enough, for a 2hr 45min film, it did seem to 'jump around' a bit too much, which makes me think that the assembly cut would have been a lot more coherent...
I absolutely would recommend watching it at the biggest screen possible, as the sheer craft of film making is undeniable.
