Teams my have an idea wether a player would sign or not but typically full discussions wouldn't happen unless the team gives permission or until after the trade.
Most players agents wouldn't be so aggressive telling teams that his player wouldn't sign on that team during the deadline because it would reduce their players UFA leverage.
It seems like Hanifins agent is going around the flames and telling alot of teams off. Hanifins camp must be confident that Hanifin will get what he wants in contract even if the pool is extremely limited.
