How Seravalli describes it is that multiple times Hanifin's camp has gotten involved and kiboshed deals by basically tampering behind the scenes and letting other teams know Hanifin doesn't want to play there. The reason they are able to do this is Brisson is the most connected agent in the league and has multiple connections in every front office who contact him when trade talks happen. It's also been reported that Hanifin doesn't want to be a rental. Basically they are controlling the process telling teams we won't sign there and we don't want to play there as a rental.
So no this is not good for the Flames or just business as usual. This is above and beyond. Steinberg confirms he has heard the same. Both agree that this is beyond a point where Conroy is trying to do right by Hanifin. Frank used the terms "Gloves are off"
