A loser way to go out.
Teams expect the opportunity now for players of Hanifin’s caliber to get to try and sign before they make a trade for him. Hanifin had no option I’m guessing but to be honest about where he wants to go, because they were going to want pen to paper from him. No team was going to pay more than rental price on a “I can’t commit but maybe”.

Would it have been better if he didn’t care where he played, sure, but that was never the case. The whole reason we are trading him is because he is picky about where he wants to play, he’s a good enough asset and is in enough demand that he’s going to get choice, and he’s communicated all along he plans on exercising that choice.

Nothing has changed on that, and we are left with deal him as a rental or work with him on where if that trade package is better than the rental options.
