What is reasonable is that the Oilers continually reject any and all versions of a schedule that they believe is NOT maximally to their explicit benefit as much as possible.
You can say… “yeah… well… all teams do this, but their business practise of an egotistical predatory rejection of reciprocity or win/win in almost any relationship is well established.
It might be with local bars, liquor vendors, or trademarking the phrase “battle of Alberta”.
All teams may push back to some extent. However, the likelihood that the Oilers take it to the extreme is very high.

I'm not sure there is any schedule negotiating. With the amount of variables involved in each team's venue, I imagine there are probably only a handful of combinations that actually work for all involved, and a computer does the breakdown so there's no actual human work involved at all.
