To be honest, if the Devils were expecting the Flames to retain salary on Markstrom for the next two seasons, I'm not sure I do the deal short of a king's ransom. If the first and Holtz is roughly the return, I think I agree with Maloney. Would have rather taken Vanecek as a cap dump for one more season.
