‘Someone else said to me’ seems pretty vague. With the impending TDL a report like this doesn’t shock me; before it was this EF was positive it was retention related for why the trade fell through. I still think it comes back to cost, flames are willing to move Markstrom but don’t have to yet unless the price is more than fair. Starters playing at the top of their game rarely become available so I don’t blame Conroy if the sticking point was cost as first suggested. I’m in agreement though that I wish a trade just happened now because the Flames are almost guaranteed a mushy middle finish at this point and Tij is pushing into the top 10.
