If he is clean and sober, he may be the next Monahan - get an asset for him to clear the cap space for Washington, and then trade him at next season's deadline for more assets. One more year left.
I wouldn't hate it if the Flames took that risk for a 1st - that's exactly the type of moves I would want the Flames to use their cap space on during this retool. I am not convinced that they will get anything else after that 1st - he may be done. However, it is worth the first in my opinion, though I am not sure that Washington - given their overall lack of prospects - would be inclined to do so. They just might stick him in the AHL and leave it at that, as this is all about Ovechkin next season.
