I don't really get why Mercer is apparently a hard no... he's going to be more expensive the Holtz next year, and given their depth at C he's a winger (for them). To me it makes more sense for them to move Mercer then Holtz.
Regardless... if they aren't insisting on retention I'd be willing to do Holtz instead of Mercer. It doesn't make sense for either end of the deal IMO but I'd do it.
