Sorry, you misinterpreted what I was saying, or perhaps I wasnt being clear. If you are going into post-secondary education, whether you want to co-op or not it is experience that counts.
Experience is the great equalizer, education is the trump card.
I have worked in establishments where I was far and away the most educated person there, however, Joe Blow who has worked that job for 10 years is without a doubt significantly better at it than I. The thing is, after 6 months with a proper work ethic and attitude I am ready to not only do the same, but overtake that long time employee.
I dont care what the advertising slogans for post-secondary are, I will always maintain that University (and University specifically, not all Canadian colleges and not trade schools) doesnt teach you how to get a job.
It teaches you how to learn and think. Thats what is really important, anyone can tow the line and get a high school diploma, but you had better be willing to put up or shut up for a university degree worth its salt.
But thats just my attitude and opinion, so take it for what its worth and you'll get your money's worth.
