Markstrom has raised his game back to where it was 2 years ago during his Vezina calibre season. He’s been great.
“Raised” is a key term. He was pretty putrid last year. And started slow this year.
Lots going on in his life. Which is understandable. But no one in the organization publically slagged him for it. Including Sutter who always rides his number ones.
If you were doing your job before, then a retool/rebuild wouldn’t be necessary Markstrom. But if you do end up returning a great package you will go down as a great Flames signing all things considered, despite the below mediocre play over half your contract thus far.
