Sometimes it doesn't - because no one was willing to pay. There are at least 10 teams interested in Tanev, and at least 4 or 5 that are seriously interested in Hanifin. The deals will get done.
Your concern would be more valid if it was a case of only one or two buyers, and Conroy on the other side, with both sides holding firm and playing chicken. That is not the case here. Conroy knows what he has in his pocket, and is working for more. This isn't a case of hoping to find a buyer.
