After what was probably their best performance against the oilers in a while, and a feature of that game being how physical the flames played… it makes me wonder if there are any players or prospects that the Flames could target for this season or (more likely) next year that fit the mold of being fast, physical and big (> 6’2”). Not looking for anyone that is a liability defensively and can chip in some offence typical of a fourth line player. Honestly I think Pospisil fits the mold perfectly and I’m wondering if there are any others that fit that player type available with maybe the additional feature of stepping up to fight some of the bigger players in the league.

Definitely not trying to go back to the days of Lucic but just looking for someone that steps up to straighten out someone like Evander Kane when he’s taking too many liberties. Ideally a player with good wheels and is strong on the forecheck.

Can anyone think of a player like that who could be a solid target for a team that’s continuing to get younger and could use some muscle in the bottom half of the lineup? I keep imagining a forward but if there’s a defenceman that fits that mold, the flames are shy on those next year as well.
