Markstrom, Bobrovsky, Vanecek, Demko, Oettinger, Binnington, Kuemper, Fleury. Some of these goalies have won a cup and other years have played like an AHL goalie at best.

Teams that lose in the playoffs almost never blow assets to get goalies. The reason they do not do this is because teams with good goalies never want to trade those goalies. So those teams blow money at UFA time. The fact that teams do not spend assets on goalies has nothing to do with those goalies not being worth quality assets, it is because those goalies never become available because goalies are too valuable and teams never trade them. A Flames team that has a 90 point Huberdeau and made the playoffs last year and was on track to make the playoffs this year does not trade Markstrom. It is almost unheard of for a non-playoff team to have a stud goalie, they are almost always on playoff teams. That is why they don’t get traded.
