In theory that idea works. But when I went to buy a Mazda 3, the used market was almost nonexistent. I could have boughten a 3 that was a year old with 20-40k km on it for only a couple thousand dollars less then sticker. It was simply not worth it. Because I wouldn't have gotten the options/colour I wanted and a year less warranty and when I am spending that much money (lots for me) I would prefer a brand new one. But that was just my experience not every car is the same.
